Man held in Mumbai for daughter’s rape

A 33-year-old man was held for allegedly raping his minor daughter for two years and forcing her into flesh trade in suburban Charkop here, police said today.

Mumbai: A 33-year-old man was arrested for
allegedly raping his eight-year-old daughter for two years and
forcing her into flesh trade in suburban Charkop here, police
said today.

The accused Satish Das, father of the victim, and his
two friends Ashok Shahu (30) and Shabbir Sayed (25) were
arrested from Charkop area last evening and were remanded to
police custody till November 9, they said.

A few days ago the girl approached Laljipada police beat
chowky, Kandivli (West) and complained that her father had not
been allowing her to live with her grandfather, who operates a
garage in the same area.

"Police took note of the complaint and subsequently
she was over to her grandfather. Then she went to Chennai
where she told her aunt that her father had raped her
on several occasions," Deputy Police Commissioner Sanjay
Banerjee said.

"The aunt narrated it to the girl`s grandfather, who
soon after the victim arrived here in Mumbai, approached
police," he said.

The girl in her statement to police said that she had
been raped by her father for two years, Banjerjee said, adding
that he even forced her into prostitution and allowed his
friends to sexually assault the girl for money.

Das is unemployed and addicted to liquor and drugs,
he added.
