A driver was robbed of a new vehicle worth Rs 22 lakh by three persons at suburban Andheri, police said Sunday.

Mumbai: A driver was robbed of a new
vehicle worth Rs 22 lakh by three persons at suburban Andheri,
police said Sunday.

The driver, Suresh Bhurviya, stopped his Toyota car
near Airport Colony on Andheri-Sahar Road and went to a mobile
outlet to recharge his cellphone last night.

"When he returned, one of the three robbers slapped
him and took away the keys of the vehicle. Subsequently, they
sped away in the car," said R N Ambre, Senior Inspector of
Vile Parle Police Station.

"The driver was on way to the airport to pick up his
employer, a businessman, when the incident occurred," he said.

Sketches of the accused have been prepared based on
the description given by Bhurviya, Ambre said.

In another robbery case yesterday, four armed men
looted gold worth over Rs 60 lakh from a jewellery shop at
Nagpada in South Mumbai and escaped from the scene.
