Nagpur: The office of a vernacular daily was ransacked here allegedly by a group of 20-25 people, police said Thursday.

One person has been arrested and four others detained in this connection, they said.

The attackers stormed into the newspaper's office last night protesting against a report published in it which they claimed hurt their religious sentiments, they said.

They allegedly vandalised the office property and computers, damaged some vehicles in the parking area and misbehaved with women journalists, police said.

Offences have been registered against the rioters under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 144 (unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapon), 147 (rioting), 148 149, 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) 353 (a) (2), 395 (dacoity), 307 (attempt to murder), 332 add 427 (mischief causing damage) of the IPC, a police release said here.
