Mumbai: Senior IAS officer Ratnakar
Gaikwad would be the new Chief Secretary of Maharashtra,
replacing J P Dange, officials said on Tuesday.
Gaikwad was holding the post of the Commissioner of
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
His name for the top post was finalised in a meeting
held here late this evening under the Chairmanship of Chief
Minister Prithviraj Chavan, an official in the Chief
Minister`s Office (CMO) said.
"Gaikwad is expected to take charge tomorrow," the
official said.
Gaikwad belongs to 1974 Maharashtra IAS cadre and
started his career from Naxal-hit Gadchiroli district in
Vidarbha.
He has worked as Municipal Commissioner of Pune and
Additional Municipal Commissioner in Mumbai. He also had a
stint in the Prime Minister`s Office.
