Sex racket busted in Mumbai, over 100 arrested

The Social Service branch of Mumbai Police busted a sex racket in city’s Grand Trunk Road area and arrested over a 100 people.

Mumbai: The Social Service branch of Mumbai Police on Wednesday busted a sex racket in city’s Grand Trunk Road area and arrested over a 100 people in connection with skin trading.

The arrested include call-girls, pimps and customers.
Police was tracing the racket from sometime and the raid resulted after the cops got concrete clues about the racket.

According to police, they had information about this operation for a long time. On late Tuesday night, police got the information that a lot of customers were present. The police sprung into action resulting in the arrests.

Earlier, police had busted another sex racket and freed 21 girls including six minors. They also raided a hotel that indulged in prostitution of minor girls for Rs 10,000.

According to media reports, a three-star hotel named Kumaria Residency was located outside the Sahar Airport.
In a secret operation, police first sent a decoy as a customer to the hotel and raided it after confirmation, resulting in the arrest of five people. Police also freed three girls including a handicap.

According to police, the hotel used to supply girls to the other nearby hotels in a courier vehicle. They used to charge Rs 10,000 from the customers but gave only Rs 2,000 to girls.

The manager Shakil Sheikh, waiters Siddhu Mahanto and Dharmendra Singh and the woman supplier Shahina Sheikh are in police custody.
