Mumbai: Shiv Sena corporator Rahul
Shewale has been fined Rs 1.75 lakh by the government for
damaging a local cinema theatre during the party`s protest
against the screening of Shah Rukh Khan`s film `My Name is
Khan` (MNIK).

Earlier this month, former Shiv Sena legislator
Sitaram Dalvi was asked to pay a fine of Rs 7.5 lakh for
damaging a five-star hotel in Andheri.

Shewale has been fined for allegedly damaging the
screen at Ashish theatre in the eastern suburb Chembur while
protesting against the screening of MNIK.

"False charges of robbery have been registered against
me. I will challenge the decision," Shewale told PTI here
today. "I came to know of the penalty after I applied for
anticipatory bail in the case," he added.

"They have charged us with robbery under Section 395
of the IPC. Money in my wallet was shown as recovery of
dacoity money that we allegedly robbed from the theatre
cash box," he said.
