Pune: Shiv Sena on Monday demanded the resignation of Mahrashtra Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagwe embroiled in a controversy over issuance of passport,
saying the criminal cases pending against him were of serious nature.
"The cases against the minister include serious charges like abduction. Bagwe has alleged that Pune Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh has hatched a conspiracy against
him, but it was not Singh who has filed the cases against the minister charged with offences since 1971," party mouthpiece `Saamana` said in an editorial.
It said issuance of passport to Bagwe had been stalled because of the criminal record of the minister and it was surprising that despite this, he continues to hold the Home
portfolio which governs the police department.
"Some leaders have declared that Dalit community to which
Bagwe belongs will come on the streets to support the tainted
minister. Instead of that why does not Bagwe resign to honour
the constitution drafted by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar," the party
asked.
