Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the state government was working on long term measures focused on agriculture to help farmers.

Amravati: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the state government was working on long term measures focused on agriculture to help farmers.

"In the absence of rains, farmers are staring at the prospects of sowing once again. It is essential for the government plan for this situation. We are working on long term measures focused on agriculture," he said.

These measures would positively impact farmers' lives in Vidarbha and Marathwada who have been facing drought for three years, Fadnavis said while speaking at a function organised by the Amravati Union of Working Journalists (AUWJ), here.

"The crisis faced by farmers cannot be overcome if the agriculture sector is viewed from the angle of elections. We are working on long-term measures to bring about positive change in the lives of farmers in Vidarbha and Marathwada," he said, refusing to divulge further details about these measures.

"I will speak about it in the House tomorrow," he said.
