Traffic constable set ablaze by enraged rickshaw driver

A traffic police constable was on Wednesday set on fire by an auto rickshaw driver after the policeman took action against him for traffic rule violation in Vasai in neighbouring Thane district.

policeman took action against him for traffic rule violation
in Vasai in neighbouring Thane district.
Anil Aitodekar, constable, had taken action against the
auto rickshaw driver Mahendra Kevat this afternoon for not
following traffic norms, police said.
Enraged over this, Kevat went to the constable in the
evening and poured kerosene and set him ablaze on the road.

The victim, who sustained 50 per cent burns, was taken to
a nearby hospital and is undergoing treatment, police said
adding the accused is still at large.
