With good rains, water level in Nashik dams rises

Rains continued to lash in Nashik city for four consecutive days, bringing relief to farmers and also rising water level in dams.

in dams.

Nashik district recorded 597 mm of rain till Tuesday, sources said adding that most of the farmers are now through with their sowing activity.

Water level in city`s Gangapur dam increased by 34.97 per cent, while that in Darna dam rose by 49.95 per cent, official sources said Wednesday.

Gangapur dam, which has a capacity of 5,630 million cubic feet (mcft) of water, is now filled up to 1,969 mcft level. Darna, with a capacity of 7,149 mcft is now filled up to 3,571 mcft and more rains are still required to increase the level of water in district`s water reservoirs.
Igatpuri, Peint, Trimbakeshwar, Nashik, Surgana tehsilsare getting a good rainfall. However, Malegaon, Nandgaon, Yeola, Sinnar, Chandvad, Devla tehsils of the district, are yet to receive sufficient rains so far.
