400 kg ganja seized, eight held

Rajahmundry (AP): Eight persons were arrested and 400 kg of ganja was seized from their possession in Maredumilli forest in the agency area of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh today, police said.
Based on a tip-off that ganja was being illegally transported from the forest area, police teams checked a vehicle that was found to be carrying?400 kg ganja stuffed in 12 bags, police said.
The contraband, worth about Rs 15 lakh, was seized and eight persons were arrested, they said.

The main accused escaped from the scene and a manhunt has been launched to nab him, police said, adding that further investigation is on.
