Dharamsala: Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Wednesday met Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and discussed
the situation in Tibet.
"We discussed the situation in Tibet and the attitude
of China," Advani told reporters after the meeting at the
Dalai Lama`s residence in Mcleodganj.
The meeting was significant as it was held in the
backdrop of the Dalai Lama deciding to give up his political
duties.
Advani said that he had met the Dalai Lama some time
back and "promised him that I will visit Dharamsala to meet
him and IPL match provided this opportunity".
Advani, who was accompanied by Himachal Pradesh Chief
Minister Kumar Dhumal and his daughter, had lunch with the
Dalai Lama and the meeting lasted over an hour, spokesperson
for the Tibetan "government-in-exile" Chimme Chockyappa told
PTI.
"Both the Dalai Lama and Advani are friends and have a
lot of respect for each other. Advani had promised to come
Dharamsaala to meet him," he said.
