Anna recovering well, says doctor

Gurgaon: Social activist Anna Hazare, who was on Sunday hospitalised after ending his 13-day-long fast on the Lokpal issue, is showing satisfactory improvement, chairperson and managing director of the Medanta Medicity hospital, Dr Naresh Trehan said.

Addressing reporters here, Dr Trehan said that Anna’s weight which had come down by 7.5 kgs over the past two weeks has also started stabilising. Dr Trehan made the remarks while issuing the latest medical bulletin on Anna’s health.

However, Hazare will be monitored for two to three days and then only a decision will be taken on his discharging him from the hospital, Dr Trehan said, adding that two to three doctors will be continuously observing his health.

Ketone level in his urine has also reduced and his blood pressure is now 130/84, the doctor said.

The next medical bulletin will be issued on Tuesday at 12:00 noon.

Doctors had earlier said that Hazare had been put on liquid diet for at least 48 hours that includes coconut water and honey.

"We have started his liquid diet. After this, we will slowly move towards semi-liquid diet and solid diet thereafter," Dr Trehan said.
