Chennai: Anna Hazare`s campaign against
corruption came in for praise on Wednesday from a US diplomat who
said it was a "hallmark of democracy" to demonstrate
peacefully.
"It is been very interesting to see that citizens are
engaged in something that is important in so many countries --
anti-corruption. I think it is a hallmark of democracy when
you get an opportunity to demonstrate it peacefully," US
Consul General Jennifer Mcintyre told reporters here.
Mcintyre, who assumed charge recently, said she was a
firm believer in democracy.
The 74-year-old Hazare ended his fast on August 28 after
securing Parliament`s approval on key elements of Jan Lokpal
Bill.
