Bolpur (WB): A large number of arms and
ammunition were seized from two villages under troubled Nanoor
police station area in Birbhum district during intensive raids
since yesterday, a senior police officer said today.
Six muskets, a revolver, 50 rounds of cartridges,
over 1,000 crude bombs and 50 kgs of bomb-making materials
were seized from some abandoned houses in the two villages,
Birbhum superintendent of police Humayun Kabir said today.
None was arrested, the SP said.
Last month, former CPI(M) MLA Ananda Das was shot dead
in the wake of a clash between CPI(M) and Trinamool Congress
workers at Nanoor.
