BJP promises rice at Rs 2 per kg for poor in Jharkhand

People living below poverty line in Jharkhan would get rice at Rs 2 per kg if the NDA is voted to power in the state, BJP President Rajnath Singh said on Monday.

Godda/Ranchi: People living
below poverty line in Jharkhan would get rice at Rs 2 per kg
if the NDA is voted to power in the state, BJP President
Rajnath Singh said on Monday.

"If we come to power, 35 kg rice would be given to each
BPL family every month at the rate of Rs 2 per kg. Loans at
two per cent interest rate would also be given to farmers and
all villages would be electrified," Singh said at a public
rally in Godda.

Speaking to reporters later in Ranchi, he said Centre`s
submission to Supreme Court that poll dates for Jharkhand
would be notified soon is a "victory" for the BJP.

Earlier in the day, Centre told the apex court that the
dates for the assembly elections would be notified to the
state soon. The case came up for hearing after a state BJP
leader moved Supreme Court demanding dissolution of the
assembly and fresh elections.

Accusing Congress of ruling the state through the
governor, BJP president said Congress`s policies led to
spiralling of prices of essential items.

"The people of Jharkhand will not pardon Congress which
along with JMM and RJD unseated BJP-led NDA government and
installed corrupt regime for three-and-a-half years," he said.

Claiming that BJP was the only party which gave priority
to the tribals, he said it was the NDA-led Central government
which had introduced the new tribal welfare ministry, carved
Jharkhand out of Bihar and recognised `Santhali` as one of the
national languages.

On the BJP`s chief ministerial candidate ahead of
Jharkhand assembly polls, Singh said party`s election
committee would look into it after nomination of contestants.

Taking a dig at AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi,
Singh said, "BJP is a party of the poor and does not have any
Yuvraj (prince)."
