Jammu: To provide better services to the
pilgrims visiting the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, the
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) on Friday launched an
on-line reservation system for the yatris availing the
heli-service on the Katra-Sanjichhat-Katra Sector.
"The board today launched the on-line reservation system
for the pilgrims to avail heli-services during their
pilgrimage to the cave shrine," SMVDSB CEO R K Goyal said.
Goyal, who briefed SMVDSB Chairman and State Governor N
N Vohra in this regard, said, "It is part of its continuing
endeavours to provide improved services to the pilgrims
visiting the shrine."
He said that after pursuing an entirely transparent
bidding process, the one-way passenger fare for heli-travel
between Katra and Sanjichhat has come down from Rs 1,225 per
passenger to Rs 699 from April 1, 2011.
Expressing satisfaction at the "very significant"
reduction in the heli-fares, the Governor hoped that larger
number of senior citizens and all physically challenged yatris
would now avail this facility.
