BSF gets 131 new Assistant Commandants

The BSF on Saturday inducted 131 Assistant Commandants at the force`s training academy at Tekanpur in Madhya Pradesh.

New Delhi: The BSF on Saturday inducted 131
Assistant Commandants at the force`s training academy at
Tekanpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The officers will join the around two lakh personnel-
strong force to serve in various operational sectors,
including naxal and insurgency-hit areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Home
Affairs Ajay Maken said the BSF will raise 16 new battalions
(around 16,000 personnel) and 13 battalions will be used as
reserve for providing rest and relief to the deployed troops.

These will be raised in the next five years.

Out of the 131 officers, 98 have been freshly recruited
while 33 have been designated as Assistant Commandants after
departmental promotions.

The Sword of Honour for best all round officer was
awarded to Gurpreet Singh and Manoj Kumar.
