Buddhadeb blames UPA for price rise

Holding the Congress-led UPA government for price rise of essential commodities, West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said CPI-M will hold a protest meeting in Delhi when the Parliament session begins later this month.

Malda (WB): Holding the Congress-led UPA
government for price rise of essential commodities, West
Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Saturday said the
CPI-M will hold a protest meeting in Delhi when the Parliament
session begins later this month.

"Protest will be held in Delhi when the Parliament opens.
We have to tell the government that we will not allow this,"
he told a public rally here.
Describing price rise as the "biggest problem" being
faced by the people, the CPI-M leader said, "Food inflation
has crossed 17 per cent. They (the Centre) have failed to
explain why the prices have shot up."

Bhattacharjee said despite the Left`s suggestion, the
union government refused to supply 14 essential commodities in
ration supplies citing huge expenditure.

"Pranab Mukherjee has argued it cannot be given as it
will involve huge expenditure," he said, adding, "Subsidies
are given to the big industry and not to the poor."
On the railway projects announced for the state by
Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee,
Bhattacharjee claimed, "Nothing will take place. There is no
fund."
