New Delhi: The Cabinet is likely to
consider a Defence Ministry proposal for setting up a National
Defence University in its meeting tomorrow.
Expected to be established in Gurgaon near here, the
setting up of a National Defence University was recommended by
an empowered group of ministers looking into the Kargil Review
Committee report.
The NDU would carry out research and impart education
on national security issues and run courses for officers of
the armed forces, civil services and paramilitary
organisations.
After the NDU is established, all the existing defence
colleges such as the National Defence Academy, Pune and the
Indian Military Academy, Dehradun are likely to be affiliated
to it.
