Patna: CPI showed eagerness for an
electoral alliance with JD-U in case the ruling party breaks
its tie-up with BJP and said efforts were on by the Left
parties to fight unitedly in the upcoming Bihar assembly
elections.

CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan said that in the event
of JD(U) breaking alliance with the BJP at the last moment,
"we may then think of firming up alliance with the party
(JD-U). But chances seem remote."

On chances of any tie-up with opposition RJD-LJP, he said
the party would decide when they desire to forge an electoral
alliance with it.

"Our efforts continue unabated to bring all the Left
parties together for a united fight in the assembly
elections," Bardhan told reporters.

"We will also decide if the RJD-LJP combine desire for an
electoral ties with us," he said, adding no formal talks had
been held so far in this connection.

In the upcoming assembly polls, the CPI would not only
oppose the BJP and its ally JD(U) but also the Congress, he
said.
