Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday
said that Union Minister for Rural Development C P Joshi had
appreciated the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh Government in
ensuring effective implementation of NREGS and `Abhayahastam`
programmes in the state.
The Chief Minister, who is in New Delhi on a 3-day
visit, discussed with the State Minister for Rural Development
Vatti Vasantha Kumar about the proposed additional works to be
taken up under the programme, an official release said here.
Rosaiah also directed the Principal Secretary, Rural
Development R Subrahmanyam over phone to ensure that the
coverage under the 100 days wage employment initiative cross
22 lakh families in Andhra Pradesh by March next.
This will be possible through effective implementation
of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the
state, he said.
As per the road map for NREGS approved by the CM,
officials were directed to ensure that 100 days wage
employment was provided to 1.5 lakh households in each large
district and one lakh households in each small district under
the scheme.
