Chargesheet against Headley an important step: MEA

India has termed the filing of chargesheet against David Headley as an important step in exposing the wider conspiracy behind Mumbai attacks.

New Delhi: India today termed the filing
of chargesheet against David Headley as an important step in
exposing the wider conspiracy behind Mumbai attacks and said
the onus is on Pakistan to follow the leads and act with
"unalloyed" determination against terrorism.

The External Affairs Ministry said charges against
Headley points out that terror outfits like LeT, HUJI and
Al-Qaeda continue to remain active in plotting new acts of
terrorism, targeting India as well as other countries.

"Investigation and filing of chargesheet in a US court
against Headley are important steps in exposing the wider
conspiracy behind the Mumbai terrorist attack, and other acts
of terrorism, for bringing to justice those responsible for
mindless violence against innocent people," MEA spokesperson
Vishnu Prakash said.

India expects Pakistan to follow the leads provided,
and unravel the full conspiracy behind the Mumbai attacks and
other terrorist plots which continue to emanate from its soil,
he said.

Underlining that fight against terrorism cannot be
selective, he said, applying "facile distinctions" amongst
these organisations (LeT, HUJI and Al-Qaeda) can only be
counter-productive in the fight the menace.

The onus is on Pakistan to act with "unalloyed
determination against terrorism, its leadership and
ideologues" so as to eliminate the space which these elements
continue to enjoy in Pakistan, and to dismantle the
infrastructure of terrorism in its territory.
