Kathmandu: Indian Home Minister P.
Chidambaram today met his Nepalese counterpart Bhim Rawal
here, amid efforts by India and Nepal to address bilateral
security concerns, particularly those linked to trans-border
crimes.

The two neighbours, who share a long porous border,
have decided their Home Secretaries will periodically meet to
discuss ways to check trans-border crimes and address
bilateral security concerns, including the use of Nepal as a
transit to push fake currency into India.

Chidambaram`s meeting with Rawal is considered
significants as it comes after yesterday`s meeting between the
Indian Home Minister and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal,
who is on a 5-day visit to New Delhi.

It was agreed to
strengthen cooperation between the security forces of the two
countries to jointly tackle the rise in criminal activities
along their common border.

Chidambaram and Rawal met at the VVIP lounge of
Kathmandu`s Tribhuvan International Airport this afternoon,
the Kantipur online said.

Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy Alok
Sinha met the Indian Minister, who stayed there for about an
hour, Indian Embassy sources here said. He then left for
Bhutan on the Druk Air`s flight.

Chidambaram is paying a three-day visit to Bhutan
where he is expected to discuss border security issues and
problems related to the North-East militant groups, embassy
officials said.
