Bangalore: The Karnataka Government has
received a formal enquiry from a Chinese company for setting
up of a Rs 5,000 crore theme park in the state.
"We have received enquiry from a Chinese company. They are
looking for land to set up the theme park," said K Viswanatha
Reddy, Director, Department of Tourism, told media on the
sidelines of a meeting organised by FICCI for investment in
hotel infrastructure here today.
"Currently, no land parcel has been identified", he said
adding that the company was interested in 1,000 acres of land
on the outskirts of Bangalore. It was keen on buying land from
farmers who were ready to sell.
The company would like the government to help in
facilitating acquisition of land and other clearances required
for setting up the project.
The company, whose name Reddy refused to divulge was
looking at Rs 5,000 crore investment over a period of time.
The time frame for setting up the project was a year.
