Committee seeks suggestions relating to concerns of people from Northeast

Committee set up by government to suggest remedial measures to address concerns of people from Northeast has sought suggestions on how to check discriminations against those hailing from the region.

New Delhi: A committee, set up by the government to suggest remedial measures to address concerns of people from the Northeast, has sought suggestions of groups, individuals and organisations on how to check alleged discriminations against those hailing from the region.
Any individual, group or organisation desirous of sharing thoughts, ideas, and suggestions relating to the concerns of people hailing from northeastern states can do so by February 28.

Suggestions can be sent to mpbcomm.Northeast@gmail.Com or posted to S Saha, Member Secretary & Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Room No. 172 C, North Block, New Delhi 110 001, an official release said.

The Home Ministry has constituted the committee, headed by former IAS officer M P Bezbaruah, on February 5, to look into various kinds of concerns of people hailing from the northeastern states who are living in different parts of the country, especially the metropolitan areas, and to suggest suitable remedial measures which could be taken by the government.

The committee had been asked to examine various kinds of concerns, including those regarding security of people hailing from the northeastern states.

It will also examine the causes behind the attacks or violence and discrimination against the people from the northeast and suggest measures to be taken by the government to address these concerns, the release said.
