Cong blames Opposition for continued disruption

New Delhi: No business could be transacted
for the third consecutive day of the winter session in
Parliament on Thursday with Congress blaming "contradiction within
the Opposition" over prioritisation of issues for the
continued disruptions.

"There seems to be contradiction within the Opposition
over the prioritisation of the issues... on what issue is
important for whom. Government of India had walked the extra
mile and was willing to debate either of the issues of black
money and price rise," party spokesperson Manish Tewari
told reporters at the AICC briefing here.

Government sources had yesterday indicated that an
agreement has been reached with the BJP over the issue of
adjournment motion on black money in Lok Sabha and the matter
would be taken up in the House as per the text of the motion
agreed by the government.

However, this had irked Left parties which decided to
oppose such a move.

In a scathing attack on BJP, CPI(M) leader Sitaram
Yechury today accused the main opposition of repeatedly
entering into agreements with Congress to help the government
"escape" a vote in Parliament on the issue of price rise.

The issues of price rise and Telangana created turmoil in
Parliament for the third day today as agitated Opposition
members raised slogans, staged a sit-in in the well and walked
out, leading to two adjournments of both Houses.

Tewari said there was a need to differentiate between
protests and disruptions.

"While everybody has the right to protest, nobody has the
monopoly of disruptions. It is not any one`s birthright,"
Tewari said urging the Oppostion parties to rise above
political differences to discuss in Parliament when important
decisions related to the economy are to be taken and the
government plans to introduce some key bills including Lokpal.

"There has to be the application of collective wisdom of
Parliament" to these measures, Tewari said.
