New Delhi: Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Tuesday expressed hope that whichever party forms the new government at the centre should pursue the same foreign policy practiced by its predecessor.

Alvi said, "Whosoever wins and forms the government, it will also pursue almost the same foreign policies as the previous government."
He added that India would engage with all countries of the world, including the United States, and that it was under the UPA Government that relations between India and the US grew manifold.
In a statement yesterday, following the conclusion of the nine-phase general elections in India, President Barrack Obama said he is looking forward to working with the new government in India, once the election results are declared, and also pledged to work closely with New Delhi on matters of bilateral importance to both countries.
