CPI-M top brass to meet tomorrow to finalise tactics

CPI(M) top brass would begin a session on Thursday to finalise tactics on issues relating to budget, price rise, women`s reservation & nuke liability bills.

New Delhi: The CPI (M) top brass would begin a
two-day session here on Thursday to finalise its tactics on
issues relating to the budget, price rise and the women`s
reservation and the nuclear liability bills.

Besides reviewing the prevailing political situation and
the upcoming assembly polls in Bihar later this year, the
party Politburo would finalise its tactics to unite all non-
BJP parties to corner the Congress-led coalition both inside
and outside Parliament.

On the organisational front, it would review the progress
made in its inner-party rectification campaign, especially in
states like West Bengal and Kerala which are slated to go to
polls next year, party sources said.

The continuing Maoist attacks on CPI(M) activists in West
Bengal would also come up for discussion, with the state
leadership likely to table a report on the situation at the
meeting.

The party is planning to coordinate actively with the
opposition parties in Parliament to take on the UPA government
particularly on the rise in petro product prices and the
overall increase in prices of essential commodities in the
remaining part of the budget session, they said.

The CPI (M) and other Left parties have expressed their
clear intent to oppose the Civil Nuclear Liability Bill,
saying it was nothing but a huge hidden subsidy to the US
equipment suppliers and to promote private nuclear power
plants.
