CWG scam: Suresh Kalmadi moves bail application

Sacked CWG OCchief Suresh Kalmadi, who was sent to Tihar jail under judicial custody on May 4 along with two others, moved the bail application in a CBI court and the judge listed the matter for hearing on May 9.

New Delhi: Sacked CWG Organizing Committee
chief Suresh Kalmadi, arrested on charges of cheating,
conspiracy and corruption in award of Games-related contracts,
on Friday moved a Delhi court for bail.

Kalmadi, who was sent to Tihar jail under judicial
custody on May 4 along with two others, moved the bail
application in a CBI court and the judge listed the matter for
hearing on May 9.

Earlier, Special Judge Dharmesh Sharma had sent Kalmadi,
OC Joint Director General (Sport) A S V Prasad and OC Deputy
Director General (Procurement) Surjit Lal to judicial custody
till May 18 after CBI said some important witnesses are yet to
be examined.

Kalmadi, Prasad and Lal were arrested by CBI on April
25 for awarding allegedly illegal contract to a Swiss firm for
Timing-Scoring-Result (TSR) system for the mega sporting event
held in October last year causing a loss of Rs 95 crore to the
state exchequer.
