Developmental politics to ensure public welfare: Kalam

Former president stressed on the need to shift to politics of development from politics being practised today.

Kottayam: Stressing the need to shift to politics of development from politics being practised today, former president APJ Abdul Kalam said developmental politics will ensure public welfare.

Delivering a lecture after presenting KR Narayanan award to Padma Vibhushan Prof O NV Kurup at a function here, Kalam said the opportunity to serve the country has been given by people and the Parliament has to carry on the mission to achieve the prosperity.

He said the country should be blessed by actions of its parliamentarians.

At another function at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering in Kanjirapally here, he said a nation which gives importance to fundamental research in science is ahead of others in technology.

Kalam told the students to carve out a distinctive path for oneself. The challenge is to fight the hardest battle and never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place, the former president said.

Speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of Darsana Cultural Centre here, he said every civilised society lives with a clear perception for future. Each individual should
practice noble ideals of constructive tolerance, positive fellow feeling and total commitment to the ideals of live and let live.
