New York: Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade`s US attorney Daniel Arshack filed a petition on Tuesday asking the trial judge in New York to dismiss her case.
After his client left the US in line with a Department of state order, Devyani`s lawyer asked the Manhattan federal court to dismiss charges and arrest warrants against his client as she was protected by diplomatic immunity since she was charged last month.

A spokesman for prosecutors has declined to comment.
Diplomat Devyani Khobragade left the United States last week after she was indicted on charges she fraudulently obtained a work visa for her housekeeper and lied about the housekeeper’s pay.

The Indian government responded by asking Washington to withdraw a diplomat from the US Embassy in New Delhi. The United States has complied.

Meanwhile, Devyani arrived in her hometown, Mumbai, on Tuesday and was greeted by RPI(A) workers who had gathered at the airport to welcome her.
