Bhiwani: The father and uncle of a
teenaged girl, who along with her lover was found hanging in
Haryana`s Bhiwani district, have been arrested in the alleged
honour killing case, with police saying the couple was beaten
to death.
"We have arrested the girl`s father Dilbag and her
uncle Kuldeep," Bhiwani`s Superintendent of Police Ashwin
Shainvi said.
Bodies of Monika (18) and Rinku (19) were found
hanging from a ceiling fan in the house of the girl`s uncle at
Nimrriwali village, about seven km from Bhiwani on Sunday.
Police had registered a murder case against six
persons including the girl`s parents, two brothers and aunt.
The SP said during preliminary investigations, it has
come to light that the two teenagers were brutally beaten to
death by the accused as they planned to marry against societal
norms.
Ashwin said the two teenagers were killed and then
hanged to give an impression of suicide to misguide the
police. "They were given a severe beaten. After this they
were hanged," he said.
Dilbag and Kuldeep have been remanded to police
custody till June 25.
Ashwin said that the two teenagers were in love and
were planning to marry but their parents were against the
alliance.
The boy belonged to `Dalal` gotra (sub caste) while
the girl was from `Boora`. The boy`s mother hailed from the
girl`s village and so, according to the village tradition,
they were considered as brother and sister.
