Garland row: Maya convenes party meet

Mayawati has convened a meeting of BSP leaders in wake of a row over her money garland on Wednesday.

Lucknow: Amid a hail of criticism over
her wearing a garland strung with 1000-rupee notes, Bahujan
Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati
has convened a meeting of her party leaders on Wednesday.

"A meeting of party MPs, MLAs and other leaders has
been convened by Mayawati tomorrow at her official residence
here," BSP sources said.

All the MPs, who were in Delhi attending the Budget
Session of Parliament, MLAs and others had been informed about
the meeting, they said.

The sources said the BSP chief would issue guidelines
to her party leaders on organisational matters after the jumbo
rally.

The garland issue, which triggered a furore across the
country, was also likely to figure at the meeting, they said.

Mayawati came under sharp attack inside and outside
Parliament as the currency garland controversy sparked demands
for a central probe into the source of money.
