Gujarat finally hands over Prajapati case to CBI

Gandhinagar: After dragging its feet for over a month, Gujarat Police's criminal investigation department (CID) Monday handed over the probe into Tulsiram Prajapati killing to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The papers of the case were handed over to the central investigating agency, police sources here said.

Prajapati was a close associate of Sohrabuddin Sheikh who was allegedly killed in a fake gunfight by the Gujarat police in Ahmedabad. The state CID was initially vested with the investigation of both the Sohrabuddin and the Prajapati cases. However, under orders of the Supreme Court the Sohrabuddin case was handed over to the CBI in January this year.

The apex court had also mandated the CBI to investigate the wider conspiracy in the case, which led the agency to the killing of Prajapati, who was the sole eye-witness to Sheikh's abduction by the Gujarat police and his subsequent elimination.

Though the CBI kept asking for the papers of the Prajapati case, the CID did not hand these over to the agency. Instead, the CID speeded up its own probe, arresting former district superintendent of police Vipul Agrawal, police inspector Ashish Pandya, and four other policemen in connection with Prajapati's killing.

no body should glorify extrajudicial killings, whether of innocents or criminals/terrorists. but, we must learn to segregate actual ``encounter specialists`` or policemen working on orders of political bosses from those officers, who get involved as a right person in wrong position at wrong time and get blamed as conspirators, without having any role in commission of such acts. it is difficult to understand and impossible to accept if vipul aggarwal would have had fulfiled any motive, by ordering a fake encounter, as proposed by the cid in their cock and bull story. instead of probing the full story, cid took the easy and foolish step of arresting one of the most respected officers in gujarat, severely denting the morale of upright officers. all the persons implicated in story were either absconding or jailed, except vipul aggarwal, who was always present at his postings. it was the easiest job for cid to arrest him and satisfy the demand of relatives/media to act. but, the way they arrested him without even slightest proof of his involvement, should be severely condemned by all of us gujarati common men. may the truth prevails and this officer be exonerated with full honors. i hope the god will forgive the perpetrators of this absurd act of our own cid.

till date cbi not able to catch killer of arusi. but in this case cbi seems political motivated by congress leader to capture brave police men from gujrat who are responisble to destruture im module after ahemdabad blast. sorabuding and tulsi were not a brave leader like gandhi and subhash but they were most wanted criminal from 4 states. wheather it was accounter or false accounter it does not means any thing for gujrat people as both were evil and deserved death for their acts
