Chennai: The Madras High Court today
dismissed a petition seeking a CBI investigation into
allegations against self-styled godman Nityananda Swami who is
embroiled in a sex scandal.

In his order, Justice R Regupathy said "when
investigation of the case is still pending on the files of
special agency at Karnataka and when nothing has been alleged
against them, I cannot find any merit to transfer the case to
CBI".

The petition was filed by Nithya Dharmananda alias K
Lenin, a former disciple of the godman who had claimed to have
shot the video purportedly showing Swami in an objectionable
position with an actress recently.

Based on his complaint, police had registered cases
against Nityananda for various offences under IPC including
rape. The cases are under investigation by Karnataka police.
Nityananda had recently announced that he was quitting
as the head of his ashram in Karnataka and associated trusts
to lead a life of `spiritual seclusion`.
