Attari: In a goodwill gesture, India on Monday released 39 Pakistani nationals, including two women, from
different jails across the country and repatriated them to
Pakistan through the land route of Indo-Pak Attari border.
Most of the released prisoners were arrested after they
inadvertently entered India and few of them were held for over
stay in the country after expiry of visa term, an official
said.
Of the 39 prisoners who were sent home, 13 were released
from Amritsar jail, 14 from Jammu jail, three from Madhya
Pradesh jail, two each from Delhi, Rajasthan, Banaras and
Gujarat prisons and one from Sangroor jail in Punjab.
