London: An Indian and three Britons are being questioned in Indonesia following the arrest of a British housewife for allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine into the country from Thailand.

The British woman, 55, was arrested for allegedly smuggling cocaine valued at 1.6 million pounds ($2.5 million) into Bali. She may face death penalty, The Sun reported Tuesday.

Lindsay Sandiford was carrying almost five kg of the Class A drug, which causes maximum harm, as she flew into Bali from Bangkok.

A younger British woman, two British men and an Indian national, believed to be the intended recipients, are being questioned, the report added. None of them was identified by name.

Made Wijaya, the airport's customs chief, said: "We arrested the suspect after we found cocaine in her suitcase. She was hiding it in the lining."

X-ray scanning revealed a suspicious substance, he said.

Indonesia has extremely strict drug laws.

Before judging this woman, I would urge every reader to watch this film: www.expendable.tv Schapelle Corby is proven to be innocent, but is still wallowing in Kerobokan prison. The point is that this is what happens in that part of the world (including Australia).
