Indian woman found murdered in Nepal hotel

Police suspect it`s a case of illicit love and have started a search for the Indian man who accompanied her.

Kathmandu: An Indian woman, thought to be in her early 30s, was found strangled inside a hotel in a Nepal town close to one of the busiest entry points on the India-Nepal border, police said.

Police suspect it`s a case of illicit love and have started a search for the Indian man who accompanied her.

The victim, who is yet to be identified, was discovered strangled with a rope inside a room in Hotel Liberty in eastern Nepal`s Kakarbhitta town Sunday.

Police said an Indian couple, calling themselves husband and wife, had checked into the hotel around 2 pm.

Soon after that, the man, who had given his name in the hotel guest register as 32-year-old Naren Da from Siliguri town, left, saying he was going out to buy medicine.

As the man locked the door of the room from outside, the suspicious hotel staff looked into the room through an open window and found the woman inside, struggling for her life.

She had been apparently strangled.

Police said they were looking for the dead woman`s absconding companion.
