The Indian Newspaper Society on Saturday condemned the attack on the offices of a Marathi news channel in Maharashtra allegedly by Shiv Sena activists.

New Delhi: The Indian Newspaper Society on Saturday condemned the attack on the offices of a Marathi news
channel in Maharashtra allegedly by Shiv Sena activists.

"INS views this as a direct attack on the freedom of the
press. President, INS (T Venkattram Reddy) urged the
government of Maharashtra to take immediate action against all
the persons who planned and participated in the attack," the
organisation said in a statement.

Suspected Shiv Sena activists yesterday vandalised the
offices of IBN-Lokmat channel in Mumbai and Pune and
assaulted staff members including journalists for carrying
reports that allegedly showed their leader Bal Thackeray in
bad light.
