Jaya backs Swamy`s bid to make Karuna as co-accused in 2G case

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa backed Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy`s demand for including Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi as co-accused in the 2G scam case.

Chennai: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today
backed Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy`s demand
for including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi as
co-accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case in a Delhi
court, saying former Telecom Minister A Raja was only a `pawn`
and the `kingpins` have to be brought to book.

"Raja is only a pawn. The kingpins have to be brought to
book. With the Supreme Court monitoring every turn of the
investigations, `I trust justice will prevail and the money
looted will be recovered in full and the culprits brought to
book", she said in a statement here.
Allocation of 2G spectrum to foreign players, particularly
based in China and Pakistan which are inimical to India, has
opened up very serious concerns about the nation`s
sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, Jayalalithaa
said.
She said it was because of these circumstances that she,
along with all other opposition leaders, had been
insisting on a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into 2G
spectrum allocation scam. "If the Congress leadership has
nothing to hide, it should give in to this eminently
reasonable demand".

Rejecting charges of his involvement in the 2G spectrum
allocation scam, Karunanidhi had yesterday issued a legal
notice to Swamy, demanding retraction of his `statement`
linking him to the scam within 24 hours.

Karunanidhi had dismissed the allegation as motivated by
Swamy`s `personal malice, political rivalry and clamour for
cheap publicity."
