Bangalore: Former Governor of Bihar Rama
Jois on Thursday asked the Centre to elicit opinion of experts
before permitting foreign universities to commence operations
in the country, saying the measure had far reaching
consequences on higher education.
Only universities enjoying high reputation on account of
their proven high standard should be allowed to enter India
after careful examination, Jois, a Rajya Sabha member, said in
a statement here.
Foreign universities entering India must agree to conform
to the country`s educational and cultural requirements and the
government should have control over them on the issue of
fixing of fee structure, he said.
The Union Cabinet has cleared a Bill for allowing entry of
foreign universities into the country.
