New Delhi: The Opposition MPs Tuesday disrupted the proceeding in Parliament over rising prices and the IPL controversy that led to the adjournment of both Houses.

Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2pm as opposition leaders protested against rising prices. Leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj also lashed out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for making a statement outside the house on a JPC probe on the phone tapping and IPL.

The prime minister had Monday night told reporters on the sidelines of the defence investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan that the phone tapping and IPL controversy were not fit cases to constitute a joint parliamentary committee (JPC).

Sushma Swaraj said she was "shocked to see in the newspaper" that the Prime Minister had made a statement rejecting the Bharatiya Janata Party`s demand.

"This is not an ordinary thing. This is an insult to the august house," she asserted, amidst a ruckus by members of Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal over rising prices.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house till 2pm as opposition members gathered near her podium raising slogans against rising prices.
The Rajya Sabha was also adjourned for the whole day as angry opposition members protested against the spiralling prices of essential commodities and the IPL controversy.

The trouble began immediately as the house assembled with members from the Left parties, the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Rashtriya Janata Dal raising slogans against the price rise.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members led by Ravi Shankar Prasad reiterated their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the affairs of the Indian Premier League.
Earlier, failing to restore order, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house till noon after barely two minutes.
