Magazine journalist wins first National RTI award

A journalist with India Today has been selected for the first PCRF-NDTV National RTI award for his new reports based on informations gathered under the Right to Information Act.

New Delhi: A journalist with India Today
has been selected for the first PCRF-NDTV National RTI award
for his new reports based on informations gathered under the
Right to Information Act.

Vice President Hamid Ansari would felicitate Shyamlal
Yadav the award, consisting of a citation and Rs one lakh,
tomorrow, a release said today.

The award is in recognition of investigative stories,
on the expose on foreign jaunts by ministers in the UPA
regime, on bureaucrats junketeering and on corruption cases
against the IAS or IPS or IRS, delay in hanging of Afzal Guru
and others with the help of information gathered through RTI
queries.

Yadav, who filed over 1,700 RTI applications across
the ministries, was selected by a high powered jury consisting
of actor Aamir Khan, chief mentor of Infosys Technologies N R
Narayana Murthy, CMD of NDTV Prannoy Roy, Justice (retd) J S
Verma, danseuse Mallika Sarabhai, former election Commissioner
J M Lyngdoh among others, it said.
