Dehradun: A magisterial probe has been
ordered into the explosion in an unused rocket launcher at
Army`s Raipur firing range here that left two labourers dead
and as many injured.

Dehradun District Magistrate D Sainthil Pandiyan said
the magisterial enquiry besides fixing the accountability for
the yesterday`s explosion would also suggest ways to avoid
such incidents in future.

The administration would also ensure that people do not
enter the prohibited area of army`s firing range, he said.

SSP Dehradun Abhinav Kumar said the police
administration would talk to the senior army officials
regarding the security arrangements at the firing range so
that unchecked movement of people can be stopped.

Mohammed Rafiq (20) and Rajik (19) were killed while
Nasir and Mushtaq, all residents of Pilibhit district in Uttar
Pradesh, were injured in the explosion when they were
apparently trying to extract copper and bronze from it.

In a similar incident, two children were killed in an
unused grenade explosion two-and-a-half-year ago in the firing
range.
