New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Ajay
Maken today disapproved his party MP Mani Shankar Iyer`s
adverse remarks against Commonwealth Games to be held here in
October, saying the event would help build infrastructure for
the Capital.

Maken told reporters outside Parliament that it was not
appropriate on the part of Iyer, a senior Congress leader, to
have stated that the Commonwealth Games should be a "failure".

"I do not agree with Iyer about his views on Commonwealth
Games. I think it is his personal opinion and it is not right
on his part to say such things. It is not appropriate for Iyer
to express such views against the games," he said to queries
from reporters.

"The way the Delhi and Central governments are working
for the Games and spending money on creating facilities, it
will help in creating assets for the Capital and it will help
develop infrastructure, apart from stadia for sportspersons,"
he said.
