New Delhi: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday attended a cabinet meeting after a month`s gap as she had been away in Kolkata to campaign for her Trinamool Congress party for the civic polls in West Bengal.

"Mamataji attended today`s cabinet meeting and actively participated in the deliberations," Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni told reporters after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"She was particularly interested in the national policy on data sharing that the cabinet cleared today," Soni added.

Asked if any of those who attended the meeting congratulated Banerjee on the Trinamool Congress` performance in the civic polls, Soni said: "I did in my personal capacity. After all, she has won an election."

In municipal elections held across West Bengal earlier this month, the Trinamool Congress snatched the prestigious Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
