New Delhi: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow, the Intelligence Bureau has issued an alert saying Maoists could carry out strikes on August 15.

The alert notes that since the CPI(Maoist) is observing `Black Day` tomorrow, its cadre could target security forces and government properties in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha.
As per sources, the Darbha Divisional Committee of CPI(Maoist) may target VIPs and security forces through small action team, or SATs.

Maoists are also likely to target CRPF posts in Netanar, Nangur, Kamnar, Jiram and Bastanar in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.

In Maharashtra, Naxals may carry out attacks on security forces using IEDs in the form of booby traps with Naxal banners and flags.
Maoists could also hoist black flags at government buildings and public places, and may hold torchlight processions against government in their strongholds.

Intelligence officials further believe the Maoists could plant landmines to target security forces in Jharkhand`s Bokaro and Giridih districts.
