Nitin Gadkari hails Modi mantra

Indore: 'Go to the grassroots' appears to be the new mantra of the BJP under Nitin Gadkari, who on Friday hailed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the way he cultivates his constituency.

"I have learnt this from Narendra Modi. At the time of election, I had been touring my constituency on scooter. What first needs to be looked after is the booth," said Gadkari, who is seeking to bring a new work culture in the BJP.

"Do not come to Delhi. Do not meet the leaders. Work in your area. Your C R (confidential report) will be written there. Your ticket will not depend upon the likes and dislikes of leaders," Gadkari said in his brief remarks before the conclusion of the National Council here.

Noting that the party would progress only when the sincere worker is honoured, he said with the hard work of partymen, the organisation can turn the tide.

"We have full confidence. We have all type of potential. We can change the country."

The new party chief has already announced that BJP will be instituting awards at the national level to the best performing MP, MLA, and even municipal councillor and a sarpanch.

He said performance will be the key to an individual's progress in the party and appealed to party units as well as governments to prepare their own annual performance reports.

"Writing such reports will not only help us promote greater accountability but also let party organisation assess one's performance," he had said.

Among the new initiatives planned by Gadkari is also a massive scheme to train party workers.

PP TALWAR - India
While BJP president Nitin Gadkari`s views about rejuvination of BJP are appreciated, yet the evil of lust for power due to having tasted the fruits of power for six long years when every member in the BJP became a minister in the cabinet, needs to be curbed. To come to power again, selfless service, humility, dedication and sincere hardwork should be insisted upon in the BJP rank and file.
