Lucknow: In a bid to tap into wider audience, the Indian National Congress will, for the first time, tweet on social networking sites in real time parts of the speeches to be made by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

The party will also upload the video snippets of Rahul’s two rallies in Uttar Pradesh on October 30.

According to a newspaper, a special IT team from Delhi and a media-centre would be a part of Rahul’s rallies in Raath area in Hamirpur district of Bundelkhand region and Salempur under Deoria district in eastern UP.

Social media teams would upload the key points of Rahul’s speech on to social networking sites.

“While parts of the speech would be tweeted immediately, videos would be shared on social networking sites. Since, both the rallies have been planned on school grounds, we are planning to create the infrastructure in one room each for the time being. Final decision would be taken after teams arrive from Delhi,” the newspaper quoted a party leader as saying.

The political workers are nowadays being trained to use social media websites - Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp - to reach out to their voters ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The use of Internet could prove to be a good tool to reach out to the voters.
